Eight older plants were retired from service. One reactor in

Zorita , Spain closed in April, the UK 's four oldest reactors at Dungeness A and Sizewell A closed at the end of December, as did Bulgaria 's two oldest units at Kozloduy and Slovakia 's oldest unit at Bohunice as a condition of EU entry. ��

Tianwan 1 reactor in

China and Tarapur 3 in

India

entered operation while nine reactors had power uprates, to more than compensate for the loss in capacity of the older reactors. ��

Compared with a year ago, two more reactors were under construction, 25 more were planned and 45 more were proposed.
