The total number of countries endorsing the declaration to at least triple global nuclear generating capacity by 2050 has increased to 33 with Rwanda and Senegal both joining the initiative on the sidelines of the COP30 climate conference in Belém, Brazil. Support from nuclear industry companies and financial institutions has also increased.
 

The tripling of global nuclear capacity by 2050 can be achieved, provided governments take immediate and sustained action to deliver on their own national targets for nuclear capacity, a report from ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Association concludes.

More than 1,100 people gathered in London for the 50th ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Symposium, taking part in a packed programme of discussions, panels and networking. In addition to the usual broad range of topics there were also two special full day programmes - one focused on end energy users and one on finance.
 

Making the most of existing nuclear plants will be vital if the challenge of tripling nuclear capacity by 2050 is to be met - and innovative approaches, including artificial intelligence tools, can help, according to panelists at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Symposium.
 

The 2025 ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Symposium marked the 50th incarnation of an event which began in the earliest days of ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Association’s forerunner organisation the Uranium Institute, growing from a modest (in size, although not in ambition) 1976 gathering at the Institute of Electrical Engineers to this year’s event taking place over three days at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. 
 

The growing interest from institutional investors in the nuclear sector, and the issues surrounding developing suitable private financing options for new nuclear projects were in focus at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Association's Finance Summit.
