The socioeconomic impacts of nuclear power plant closures are swift, severe and lasting, and the effects are felt more deeply in rural communities where most plants are located, a new report from the Nuclear Decommissioning Collaborative has found.

The nuclear energy industry provides more numerous, better-paid and more highly-trained jobs than does the wind power sector, according to a technical position paper published today by ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Association. It provides around 25% more employment per unit of electricity generated.
