Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems and NuScale Power Corporation have mutually agreed to terminate the Carbon Free Power Project. The project to build NuScale small modular reactor units at a site near Idaho Falls had been pencilled in for operation by 2029.

Five partners from Belgium, Italy, Romania and the USA have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the development, demonstration and commercialisation of lead-cooled small modular reactors.

Dutch construction firm BAM Infra Nederland has agreed to collaborate with ULC-¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß and Rolls-Royce SMR on the deployment of a fleet of Rolls-Royce SMRs in the Netherlands.

In response to calls from the nuclear industry, research community and nuclear safety regulators, the European Commission will establish an Industrial Alliance dedicated to small modular reactors in early 2024, European Commissioner for ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Kadri Simson has announced.

Vattenfall is applying to the municipality of Varberg for a detailed plan to enable the construction of new reactors on the Värö Peninsula, to the west of the existing Ringhals nuclear power plant in Sweden. The announcement came as the government launches a review of the permitting process.

Norsk Kjernekraft has submitted a proposal to Norway's Ministry of Oil and ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß for an assessment into the construction of a power plant based on multiple small modular reactors in the municipalities of Aure and Heim. The company said it marks the first formal step towards the possible construction of the country's first nuclear power plant.

Plans for small modular reactors in the Czech Republic are to be included in State ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Policy and Spatial Development Policy of the Czech Republic after a minister-led working group examining their potential outlined numerous potential sites and called for the start of construction in the first half of the 2030s.

ULC-¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß of the Netherlands has signed an agreement with Denmark's Topsoe and the UK's Rolls-Royce SMR to jointly investigate the production of hydrogen using Topsoe's Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell technology with both electricity and heat produced by a Rolls-Royce SMR nuclear power plant.

Small modular reactor and advanced fuel technology developer X-¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Reactor Company - known as X-energy - and Ares Acquisition Corporation have "mutually agreed to terminate their previously announced business combination agreement, effective immediately". 

Laboratory experiments carried out using simulated fuel have substantially derisked the Waste To Stable Salt - or WATSS - process, and experiments using real used fuel are currently ongoing.

The National Atomic ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Commission and Nucleoeléctrica Argentina have signed a framework agreement for technical assistance for the country's CAREM small modular reactor project.

X-¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Reactor Company, LLC and the US Department of ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß have signed a cooperative agreement through 2024 to further advance the development of a transportable mobile microreactor design.
