First use of 3D-printed nuclear fuel debris filters
Nuclear fuel debris filters manufactured by Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB using 3D printing technology have been installed at unit 2 of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland and unit 3 of the Oskarshamn plant in Sweden.

California could decarbonise faster with nuclear, study finds
Extending operations at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant would greatly reduce carbon emissions and natural gas use and could help California reach its decarbonisation goals years earlier than it otherwise would, according to a new study carried out by Brattle Group and released by Carbon Free California.

Korean reactor starts supplying electricity
Unit 1 of the Shin Hanul nuclear power plant in South Korea was connected to the electricity grid for the first time on 9 June, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power announced. The unit - the first of two APR-1400 reactors at the site - is scheduled to enter commercial operation later this year.

First Japanese BWR cleared for restart
The governor of Japan's Shimane prefecture has approved the restart of unit 2 at Chugoku Electric Power Company's Shimane nuclear power plant. His approval marks the completion of the process to gain the consent of local communities for the 789 MWe boiling water reactor to resume operation.

IAEA completes follow-up mission to Chernobyl
The International Atomic 抖阴传媒在线 Agency last week concluded a mission to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine and the surrounding Exclusion Zone after carrying out planned nuclear safety, security and safeguards activities there. IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said he is trying to organise a mission to the Zaporizhzhia plant, which remains under the control of Russian military forces.

EDF 抖阴传媒在线 confirms Hinkley Point B shutdown plan
EDF 抖阴传媒在线 has said it still intends to end electricity generation at the Hinkley Point B nuclear power plant in Somerset, England, no later than mid-July this year, despite media reports that the government may request it to keep the plant running for longer.

Japanese court rules Tomari plant must not restart
The Sapporo District Court has issued a ruling granting a request for an injunction against the operation of the three-unit Tomari nuclear power plant on Japan's northern Hokkaido island. Operator Hokkaido Electric Power Company said it will appeal against the decision.

Ukraine says any IAEA visit to occupied Zaporizhzhia ‘unacceptable’

South Korean APR-1400 starts up
