Dutch nuclear energy development and consultancy company ULC-¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß BV has completed a study - supported by C-Job Naval Architects - analysing the design and economic implications of using civil nuclear reactor technology to power a Newcastlemax bulk carrier.

Thorizon of the Netherlands has announced that the Dutch and French nuclear regulators are to collaborate on a preparatory review of its Thorizon One molten salt reactor to streamline the pre-license applications expected next year.

The European Commission has approved, under EU state aid rules, the Dutch government's plan to invest EUR2 billion (USD2.2 billion) in the construction of the new Pallas research reactor in Petten, the Netherlands.

The installation of 380 foundation piles - each 33 metres in length - has been completed in the construction pit for the Pallas research reactor in Petten, the Netherlands. Pallas is planned to replace the existing High Flux Reactor.

The Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection has granted the final permit to Urenco for the construction and operation of a new radioactive waste storage facility at its Almelo site. The uranium enrichment company was last year granted permission to build the facility prior to the permit being issued.

The operator of the Hoger Onderwijs research reactor in the Netherlands has enhanced safety since a previous review mission in September 2021, a follow-up International Atomic ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Agency mission has concluded.

Uranium enrichment services provider Urenco has broken ground on an expansion of its plant in Almelo in the Netherlands. The move came as the company signed a new long-term supply contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.

Following the signing of a strategic three-year partnership with Thorizon of the Netherlands, Belgian engineering firm Tractebel - a subsidiary of France's Engie - will provide engineering services including support on the conceptual design, computational modelling, cost estimates and design reviews of the Thorizon One molten salt reactor.

Westinghouse Electric Company has been awarded a contract by the Dutch government to conduct a technical feasibility study on the deployment of two AP1000 reactors at the Borssele nuclear power plant site. It comes as the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate launches a consultation on the siting of the reactors.

Naarea of France and Thorizon of the Netherlands have signed a strategic partnership agreement to advance the development of molten salt reactors in Europe.
