Leading figures from across the fuel cycle say they are ready to meet increased demand, but set out areas where change is required to help make it happen, in a ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Nuclear Symposium session.

The completion of soil remediation at the East Tennessee Technology Park is the culmination of 20 years of cleanup at the site which was once home to Manhattan Project and Cold War-era uranium enrichment facilities. The remaining federally owned parcels of land at the site can now be transferred to the community.

BWX Technologies Inc has been awarded a contract by the US Department of ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß's National Nuclear Security Administration to develop a centrifuge pilot plant to ensure a domestic supply of enriched uranium for defence purposes.

An International Atomic ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Agency Centre of Excellence for Safeguards and Non-Proliferation has been launched at uranium enrichment services provider Urenco's Capenhurst site in the UK. The centre will be fully operational in 2025.

Centrus ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß has received a waiver from the US Department of ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß allowing it to import low-enriched uranium from Russia for delivery to US customers in 2024 and 2025.

Global Laser Enrichment has entered into a set of agreements that provides it with an option to purchase a plot of land for the planned Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility in Kentucky.

The Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection has granted the final permit to Urenco for the construction and operation of a new radioactive waste storage facility at its Almelo site. The uranium enrichment company was last year granted permission to build the facility prior to the permit being issued.

The UK government is awarding GBP196 million (USD245 million) to Urenco to build a uranium enrichment facility with the capacity to produce up to 10 tonnes of high-assay low-enriched uranium per year by 2031.

Global Laser Enrichment has decided not to submit a proposal in response to a US Department of ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß request for the acquisition of high-assay low-enriched uranium enrichment, its 51%-owner Silex Systems has announced. The company has also received regulatory approval to load uranium hexafluoride for the start of testing to demonstrate the technology it plans to use in its enrichment facility at Paducah in Kentucky.

Uranium enrichment services provider Urenco has broken ground on an expansion of its plant in Almelo in the Netherlands. The move came as the company signed a new long-term supply contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.

In a contract signed during a visit to the Czech Republic by French President Emmanuel Macron, Orano will supply uranium enrichment services, which will be used at ÄŒEZ's Dukovany nuclear power plant.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power has signed a Letter of Intent with US nuclear fuel and services company Centrus ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß to ensure a stable supply of nuclear fuel. It follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two companies in April last year.
